Eligibility

– Must possess the skills of an orchestral musician.
– Students (including graduate and research students) must submit a sealed letter of recommendation from one instructor.
– Must be able to communicate in everyday Japanese.

Timpani: Hardtke Dresden Classic Berlin pedal system (Natural Skin, German Style)
Lefima Ernest Concert Timpani Berlin pedal system (‘Berlin’ Natural Skin, American Style)
*Mallets must be brought by the applicant.
*Reverse pedal setup available.
*Timpani model can be selected on the day.
*Heads may be changed from natural skin due to unavoidable circumstances.

For those who pass the first audition.
Orchestral Studies: Sections announced on the day
*Performance with piano accompaniment under conductor’s direction.
*Sheet music will be sent after the application deadline.
*Same instruments as the first audition.

<Third Audition>
For those who pass the second audition.
Engage in orchestra performance duties as a contracted member for 6 months.
*Begins within 3 months after the second audition.

<Interview>
For those who pass the third audition.

Audition Results Notification

Preliminary Screening: Only successful candidates will be contacted by phone on April 7 (Tue).
First Audition: Results will be sent via email on April 8 (Wed), regardless of pass or fail.Second Audition: Results will be sent via email by April 20 (Mon), regardless of pass or fail.

Important Notes

  1. Accompanist for the second audition will be provided by the orchestra.
  2.  Inquiries regarding selection results will not be accepted.
  3.  All expenses for participation in the auditions are the applicant’s responsibility.
  4.  Submitted data will not be returned. Resumes will be used only for the audition and discarded afterward.
  5.  Applicants studying abroad or residing overseas must provide a contact address in Japan.

Compensation

According to orchestra regulations. Includes social insurance and transportation allowance.
